Cookies policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files sent by a website to its visitor and then sent back to the website to be read by the server. They allow to collect information about the use of the website (which and how many pages the user visited, how much time he stayed on the website, from which channel the user came to the website, etc.).
Such information is stored on the computer hard disk or on any electronic device used by the user for accessing the Internet.
Cookies allow the use and the functioning of the website or some of its functions. In summary, they enable:
- To retain personal preferences (language, font size, colour, etc.);
- To avoid to re-insert the same information more than once during the visit (for example login data) or to manage the shopping cart on e-commerce sites;
- To analyse the use made by the user of the services and the contents provided by the website;
- To view contents such as videos, maps, etc.
- The sharing of website content on social network;
- To show targeted advertisements for a most effective advertising campaign.
Cookies may be of various types.
Technical cookies
Technical cookies allow the correct functioning of some sections of the website. Said cookies are divided into 2 categories based on their duration:
- Temporary (or session) cookies have not a deadline and they are deleted from the computer at the end of the session or after closing the browser;
- Permanent cookies have a pre-defined deadline and therefore will remain on the user’s computer also at the end of the session or after closing the browser so they can be read by the visited website in case of a new access.
These cookies are essential to view the website properly and they will always be used and sent, except when your browser settings do not allow for such cookies (with the risk to block some functionalities on the website).
Analytical cookies
Analytical cookies are used to collect information, in an aggregate and anonymous way, about the use that the visitor makes of the website, with the aim to improve its usage and contents. Said cookies are considered technical if they are installed by the website manager himself and not by a third party.
If analytical cookies are installed on the user’s terminal from a different site through the one the user is visiting, we are talking about third-party cookies; an example is Google Analytics.
Third-party cookies also refer to those used to make software work such as social sharing buttons inserted on a site or other software such as the implementation of videos or maps.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are used to create user profiles based on personal preferences, expressed by website users, to send adverts in line with the profile created.
